Byerley Park Primary School

60 Books to Read Before You Leave Byerley Park.

As part of our continued drive to instil a love of reading in our pupils we are proud to share our new reading challenge that aims to encourage the children to read a range of 60 books before they leave school at the end of Year 6.

The list has been compiled from a wide range of book reviews and includes timeless classics as well as some contemporary stories and authors.

The onus is on each individual child and family to record the stories that they have read and to keep their ‘60 Books’ reading record safe. Upon completion the children will receive a special certificate and a small gift as a reward for their achievement.

All of the books on the list are in school and are available to borrow and read.

Frances completed our 60 Books challenge in April 2023, just over a year since it was launched!

Frances has used the 60 Books section in our school library to help her complete the challenge and would often wake up early to read before school. Her favourite book was ‘Naughts & Crosses’ by Malorie Blackman.  Well done, Frances!
