On Tuesday 25th February, a group of 20 children attended the Key Steps Gymnastics Competition, held at Athena Gymnastics Club in Newton Aycliffe. All of the participants had to learn a grueling routine, differing in levels of difficulty for each class. Each individual was selected through their class performance of their skills, which was an achievement in itself.
At the competition the children were split into four different teams. These included a y1/2 team, y3/4 team, y5/6 team and open event individuals. Each individual had to perform an individual floor routine and a vault jump in front of a large watching audience!
The competition was extremely tough, with some very talented gymnasts on show. Overall, the Byerley Park team came back to school with impressive bronze medals for the 3/4 team and silver medals for the 5/6 team.
All of the competitors represented our school fantastically. Each and everyone of them held their nerve, performing both professionally and gracefully throughout the competition. Well done team, you did us all very proud!
